First to recieve the J.G. Neufeld Award
Anthony was raised in the West side of Vancouver in an upper income neighborhood. He was very athletic and found his identity in trying to excel. Along the way he got heavily involved in drinking and drug abuse. At the time he came to Teen Challenge he was working but was in terrible straights burdened with addiction. He was holed up in a motel room on business in Southern California abusing alcohol. His family, friends and co-workers did not know where he was. He was indeed lost to the world of addiction. Anthony out of absolute desperation phoned his Pastor in the lower mainland of British Columbia who arranged to fly him back home, packed him up and brought him into BC Teen Challenge. From the beginning Anthony did well in his program. He was a natural leader and Flourished in his recovery. After completing the one year in residence Anthony went to work for a company in Cloverdale, British Columbia. In his short time there he has risen up the ranks and is now in a very responsible position. He has excelled in his work like he excelled in his recovery. Since being back in the workforce, Anthony has paid his bad drug and drinking debts. In April of this year he purchased a home in Abbotsford, British Columbia. Today Anthony and his family are settling into his new home and new neighbourhood . Anthony is a leader. Anthony has successfully beat the demons of addiction and we in Canada are very proud of his example. |
