DRUG STRATEGY - International, Dec 28, 2006 - DPNC highlights danders of supervised Injection Sites

ITFSDP Members in Canada Highlight the Dangers of Supervised Injection Sites

Mr. Randy White, President of the Drug Prevention Network of Canada and new member of the International Task Force on Strategic Drug Policy has been instrumental in effecting change in Canada. Through the dedication and efforts of DPNC, the negative impacts of supervised injection sites on the surrounding community and the addict have come to light.

A study recently published by Addictive Drug Information Council and the DPNC highlights the dangers of so-called harm reduction through supervised injection sites. The report is quite compelling and perhaps most important to note is its conclusion that the "potential impacts of SISs are too important and too divisive to be left up to conjecture and inferences that cannot be supported." Please click here to see the full study.

Please join ITFSDP in congratulating Mr. White and the Drug Prevention Network of Canada for raising awareness of the challenges Canadians face in dealing with permissive drug policies and for pushing back against these detrimental policies.

ITFSDP members Al Arsenault, Ben Jenkins and Dr. Colin Mangham are also members of the Drug Prevention Network of Canada and should be applauded for their hard work
