Salt Lake ponders a label for meth homes
The Salt Lake City Council has asked for more research about how to identify and label houses that formerly had heavy methamphetamine users as occupants.
The council, acting at the request of the Liberty Wells Community Council, is asking for more information about how it might publicly identify houses that not only housed meth labs but also were the homes of heavy users.
Members of the community council told their district representatives, Jill Remington Love and Nancy Saxton, that they were concerned about lingering ill effects to people's health that may come from the chemical used to brew meth.
"This is a first step, and I'll be interested in what the administration comes back with," Love said. "I've had a number of calls about this this week, and I'm looking forward to the process to see what we can do to protect our homes."
