DON'T METH WITH IT
By Rosa Prince

CRYSTAL meth is to become a Class A drug, it was announced yesterday.

Also known as speed, ice, crystal or yabba, it gives a huge high, but is so addictive lives can be ruined in weeks.

A form of amphetamine, crystal meth has ravaged large numbers across the US, Australia and the Far East. It is mainly used by gays in Britain. Home Office minister Vernon Coaker told MPs he had been helped by the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, adding: "Crystal meth has the potential to be extremely damaging."

Users of Class A drugs can be jailed for seven years and suppliers for life.
